Open Streets Festival – October 6th in Winslow

COME HEAR WORLD RENOWNED SPEAKERS AND LOCAL PANELISTS

Don’t miss your opportunity to hear internationally renowned speakers, Chris and Melissa Bruntlett, speak about how cities all over the world have built a culture of cycling and local vitality. We’ll also get inspired by a panel of our own local bikers and walkers, Fran Korten, Christian Ford and Naomi Spinak.

Bainbridge Island, Wash., (September, 2018) – Please be advised that major traffic revisions will be in place in the Winslow core on Saturday, October 6 for the Open Streets Festival, a nationwide event that gives communities an opportunity to explore protected bike lanes, trails, and paths to build a healthy community.

People will be walking, biking, and rolling along a route that is a loop between the Bainbridge High School and Eagle Harbor Waterfront Park. The traffic revisions, which include reducing some streets to one-way, are expected from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and signs will be posted to let drivers know about the changes.

Traffic Revisions:

• Winslow Way between Madison Avenue and Grow Avenue will be reduced to one lane— only eastbound traffic will be allowed in this area.
• Drivers should also be aware there is a detour route that will be a one-way loop along Madison Avenue S, Parfitt Way SW, and Wood Avenue SW.
• Grow Avenue between NE High School Road and Winslow Way will also be reduced to one lane with one-way traffic– only southbound traffic will be allowed.
• Lovell Avenue between Wyatt Way and NE High School Rd will be reduced to one lane with one-way traffic— only northbound traffic will be allowed.

Residents:

• People who live in the area of the Open Streets Festival route will still be able to access their properties.

Businesses:

• Access will be maintained to all parking lots along route.

• Businesses are encouraged to spread the word, so customers are aware of the changes in advance.
