Bike To School Fun!

Kudos to the 700+ kids that participated - in less than ideal weather - in the annual Bike to School Day.

Squeaky Wheels has been helping Bainbridge Island School District in holding Bike to School Day for years by supporting staff with volunteers, snacks, raffle prizes, and City of Bainbridge Island staff and Police Department coordination.

This year we were excited to have all BISD school’s celebrate Bike to School Day on the same exact day! Additionally, the City of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Island School District teamed up to clean up routes, making a big difference in ensuring that kids could participate safely and confidently.

Here’s the breakdown of kids participation by school (not including parents, bike train leaders, and siblings who joined in on the fun):

• Sakai - 220 approx.

• Ordway - 150-170

• Odyssey - 75-100

• Blakely - 75+

• Woodward - 65+

• Halilts - 50+

• Bainbridge Island High School - 30

Bike to School Day wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the community partners who donated raffle prizes, snacks, and refreshments for participating students:
